Through the music played in this album we present you diverse, well-known and even less known pieces of both spiritual and folk works associated with Christmas time and arrival of the New Year. Vocal performance is accompanied with historical musical instruments and coloured underneath with ornamental sounds of folk instruments.

A Christmas atmosphere induced by the initial traditional Adeste Fideles is magnified by the cathedral songs originating from Christmas time and having their roots in a distant past of Slovakia and Europe.
A composition entitled Lapidaverunt Stephanum differs from those mentioned above, describing the stoning of the martyr Stephan to death. Nevertheless, from a point of view of its theme and musical poetics, this composition also falls into a period of Christmas. Cathedral songs are concluded by a „Three Magi“ composition of Omnes de Saba and the Salve Jesus parvule composition by Slovak composer Mikuláš Moyzes.
With the carols included in the second part of our album we intend to contribute, using our own characteristic interpretation, to Christmas traditions of Slovakia.
